NVIDIA To Hold Special GeForce Livestream On May 6th at 6pm Pacific
by Ryan Smith on May 5, 2016 11:52 AM ESTNVIDIA has announced via their website and Twitter feed that the company will be holding a special GeForce livestream this week. The event be broadcast on NVIDIA’s Twitch channel.
NVIDIA has not announced what the event will be for, or any content details, for that matter. However given that it’s a GeForce event and that NVIDIA has already announced their first Pascal architecture GPU for the HPC market, a similar consumer announcement does seem to be the most likely candidate.

An announcement of SLI support for VR apps that weren't created with Nvidia VR would be nice, but they're probably going to sell me a new video card to replace the two in my gaming PC now.Btw, The HTC Vive is fantastic. It has flaws - visible sub-pixels and Fresnel rings, but the games are totally immersive, and I'm in noticeably better shape after a single week of playing Holoball daily.

"An announcement of SLI support for VR apps that weren't created with Nvidia VR would be nice"It would also be magic. VR Multi-GPU (regardless of vendor) needs to be implemented and optimised by the game developer. Latency optimisation needs to be performed again for the multi-GPU path, as a completely different set of bottlenecks are involved (e.g. pixel fill rate is greatly increased, but geometry is not, and you have to contend with transactions over the PCIe bus).

Thanks for the knowledge edzieba.Alexvrb - Thursday, May 5, 2016 - link
When you factor in DX12 and Vulkan, doesn't that sort of depend on what multi-GPU rendering mode/method they're using?Gigaplex - Friday, May 6, 2016 - link
If you're using the multi adapter feature of DX12, you're not using SLI.skavi - Friday, May 6, 2016 - link
I've never thought of the subpixels in VR headsets. Is it in a diamond/nonstandard or rgb stripe layout on the Vive? Would you have preferred either type?TristanSDX - Thursday, May 5, 2016 - link
They will introduce support for FreeSyncnathanddrews - Thursday, May 5, 2016 - link
Doubtful. I think that they SHOULD, but doubt they WILL. If they announce DP1.3, but don't support Adaptive Sync, it would be hilarious. My guess is that AMD will push FreeSync over HDMI and DP1.3 on its next wave of GPUs.MrSpadge - Friday, May 6, 2016 - link
Haha, good one!
