TI Joins the Windows RT Demo Fray

Not one for being left out, TI had a demo of Windows RT running on its OMAP 4470 reference tablet. Microsoft instructed its partners not to show off anything but the start screen when allowing photography for Windows RT devices so the picture above is all we're able to provide you (despite showing much more in earlier coverage).
How well did OMAP 4 run Windows RT? At least as well as the rest of the ARM SoC makers, in other words: quite good. Scrolling was smooth, switching between apps was fast and everything just worked.
Microsoft still needs to tweak the Metro UI as some animations are still jittery at times but there's still a lot of time between now and the expected August - October release of Windows 8.

And no, it is not specific to ARM. This is the way they intend Windows and Windows Apps to look.

Windows Runtime is an API that is used for Metro apps, if I'm not mistaken. Windows RT may sort of point to it being for "Runtime" but I don't know that that's truly the intent. Probably "RT" just sounded cool to someone.B3an - Saturday, June 9, 2012 - link
Win RT does have the desktop, and almost everything from Win 8 is there, plus Office 15 runs on it and comes installed on all Win RT tablets. If it can run a pretty complex piece of software like that, then obviously it can run other software on the desktop too, the only thing is if MS will make more Win RT desktop software and allow others to do so.
